Ministry is about shared love, shared grief, and shared hope. The church is a community called to life together, and so our staff and consistory are committed to be a team that will pray together, suffer and rejoice together, and push each other in hope and faith as friends in the shared task of ministry.
Tuck is the founding and senior pastor of City Church. He is a Senior Fellow at Newbigin House of Studies and adjunct faculty at Western Theological Seminary where he teaches Urban Church Planting and Missional Leadership. He holds a PhD in Sociology and prior to starting City Church in 2006 he served on the pastoral staff of several churches, most recently Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City. Tuck and his wife Stacy have three adult children.
Stacy is the women’s ministry director and works with women to connect them to one another and to Jesus. She believes one way God reveals himself to us is through our relationships with his people. Before helping to start City Church, she taught public and private school at the middle and high school level. Recent years include work with community leaders, justice and mercy efforts, and children's ministry. Since City Church does not currently own space, she frequently welcomes groups to her home for meetings, Bible study or just a cup of tea and prayer. Stacy holds an MEd from the University of Georgia.
Bethany has been City Church's director of musical worship since 2010. She is passionate about music's ability to engage hearts, minds, bodies, and love of neighbor in worship. Bethany believes that the creative arts can help convince those inside and outside of the church that the universe is not only about survival but generosity. Bethany is active as a piano teacher and classical collaborative pianist and has played in a succession of Philadelphia's indie folk and rock projects over the years (Wissahickon Chicken Shack; The Great Unknown; Phil D'Agostino Band). Her solo recording project of re-tuned hymns, Quarry Street Hymnal, was released in 2012. She earned the MMus in piano performance from the Royal Academy of Music in London and the MMus in collaborative piano from Temple University, where she studied with Lambert Orkis.
Dan is the Sunday volunteer and operations manager and oversees the weekly transformation of a high school into a place of worship for City Church. Dan enjoys helping people change the world and his background includes foster care social work, a graduate admissions director, a pastor, and currently he is a development and fundraising consultant for nonprofits. Dan and his wife Candy moved to Philadelphia in 1992 and have three children. All have been involved with City Church since its beginning in 2006. He holds an MDiv from Westminster and has been a part of the City Church team since 2011.
John is a campus minister with Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) in partnership with City Church. He works with college students to develop Christian convictions and character. John knows that college presents an important opportunity to transition into adult Christianity, and is thrilled to be working with students at Penn. He has worked for 4 years with Penn students, holds an MDiv from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and has been part of the City Church team since 2016. John and his wife Caitlyn moved to Philadelphia in 2013 to work with Christian Union at the University of Pennsylvania.
Chris is the Site Pastor for our Fairmount campus that launched in February 2017. He served as our Youth Director, Assistant Pastor, and Church Planting Resident at City Church prior to his current role. Chris and his wife Bonnie have been married since 2005 and have two children. He has been a part of the City Church team since 2008 and holds an MDiv from Westminster Theological Seminary.
Jonathan is the director of ministries and operations at City Church, and pastors City Church youth. He and his wife Mary live in West Philadelphia and prior to coming to Philly, Jonathan was an intern with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at Washington and Lee University in Virginia. Jonathan has been part of the City Church team since 2013, is a graduate of the University of Georgia, and holds an MDiv from Westminster Theological Seminary.
Ginger is the director of children's ministry and works with children in nursery through grade 5 to help them grow in their understanding of Christ's abounding love for them. Ginger believes the thoughts, ideas and voices of children are an essential part of our church community. She has served in the director role since July 2013. Ginger has taught in public and independent schools in Georgia, New York City, and Philadelphia. She most recently served as the academic director at an independent elementary school in North Philadelphia. Ginger and her husband Adam relocated from New York City in 2006 to help start City Church and they now have three children. Ginger holds an MEd in Reading Instruction and a BS in Early Childhood Education.
