Easter Sacrificial Offering 2024

We take time each Easter season to give sacrificially as a congregation. The deacons have decided to support two locals partners this season, as well as to support a church in Ukraine for our third year in a row. Half of our Easter Sacrificial Offering will go overseas, to support the Ukrainian Church, the other half will be split between the two local organizations (25% to Cada Madre, which serves women, and 25% to Philly House, which serves men). Cada Madre Fund @ Esperanza Health Center

We are supporting the Cada Madre, meaning “Every Mother”, fund started by the Esperanza Health Center, which has been providing medical care in Philadelphia for 30 years. This fund was started a year ago and is used to provide both material and medical needs for a large population of undocumented, uninsured women receiving care within the clinic. Many of these women come to Philly with nothing, and have minimal resources to obtain the practical items needed to care for a newborn. This fund is used to assist with these needs including car seats, diapers, strollers and other essentials to help new mothers take care of their babies. This fund helps women successfully and safely raise their babies. Sign up here if you’d be willing to provide a ride to an ultrasound appointment for a Cada Madre mother.

Philly House

Philly House has been walking alongside homeless and hungry men in our city for 140 years. They feed, shelter and provide support for some of the most vulnerable in our community, and they have been expanding their care to include counseling towards building lasting relationships to guide spiritual formation and growth. The Spiritual Care program is designed to help men fighting homelessness become restored. Their needs are diverse and the staff strives to meet each person where they are with the love of God and the comprehensive services that can lead them to wholeness. Our offering will help fund a full-time Spiritual Care Coordinator to continue this vital mission. In addition to our financial contribution, there are other ways to give including fulfilling their Amazon wish list, or volunteering.

Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Kharkov (Kharkiv)

The deacons have decided to, for a third year, continue our support of a church in Ukraine, at the heart of conflict in Kharkov. This small congregation has continued through years of war to feed and support hundreds of churched and unchurched people in the bombarded city. Our offering will help them implement and sustain programs that get food and necessary medical supplies to their neighbors. Our support in past years has helped this struggling community to see hope and the love of God in a time and place with little light. We are honored to continue our support.
