Bethany has been City Church's director of musical worship since 2010. She is passionate about music's ability to engage hearts, minds, bodies, and love of neighbor in worship. Bethany believes that the creative arts can help convince those inside and outside of the church that the universe is not only about survival but generosity. Bethany is active as a piano teacher and classical collaborative pianist and has played in a succession of Philadelphia's indie folk and rock projects over the years (Wissahickon Chicken Shack; The Great Unknown; Phil D'Agostino Band). Her solo recording project of re-tuned hymns, Quarry Street Hymnal, was released in 2012. She earned the MMus in piano performance from the Royal Academy of Music in London and the MMus in collaborative piano from Temple University, where she studied with Lambert Orkis.
