Easter Sacrificial Offering 2018
The City Church Diaconate are excited to announce two designees for this year’s Easter Sacrificial Offering:
Redemption Housing is a West-Philly-based nonprofit that provides free and low-cost housing to men recently released from prison by partnering with local churches. City Church is one of six Connecting Congregations that have partnered with Redemption Housing in this important ministry. Currently, three returning citizens live in their Locust House in our neighborhood, and they are planning to purchase a house this year that will hold up to 8 returning citizens. City Church’s ESO gift to Redemption Housing will go to their home purchase fund, and we expect it to significantly help them toward this important next step for their ministry.
YoungLives Philadelphia is a nonprofit that empowers and equips teen moms to become productive citizens in their community by engaging mature Christian women to provide teen mothers in crisis with timely encouragement, guidance, and ongoing support. There are currently YoungLives clubs in the N. Broad, Olney, and Kensington neighborhoods of Philadelphia. Monica Horvath, a City Church member, is the Director for Philadelphia YoungLives and has been leading a monthly prayer gathering in advance of starting a West Philadelphia YoungLives club. The gift from City Church’s ESO will go towards sustaining the three current ministries as well as the Club starting in West Oak Lane in May 2018 and the soon-to-start West Philadelphia Club.
